Our Mission

The Chesapeake Bay Ecological Foundation, Inc. is a non-profit organization, founded in 1984, that conducts scientific research on important marine fisheries in the Chesapeake Bay and adjacent coastal waters.

Our research data and analyses are made available to the Atlantic States Marine Fisheries Commission and to state and federal agencies charged with fisheries management decisions. We examine and evaluate proposed management plans to assess their potential. Through the news media, lectures and our website we inform the public of our research findings and the current status of important fish species. We conduct a Predator/Prey Monitoring Program which monitors interactions of striped bass and Atlantic menhaden in the Chesapeake Bay and along the Atlantic coast.
